This book is set in Malaysia at the beginning, and I enjoyed reading about the difference in the climate and environment of Malaysia and UK, having lived in both countries.Īt the beginning, I was confused as to how this book ties in with the first, but I grew to enjoy it a lot. See my review for Sorcerer to the Crown here. There were some things I didn’t quite like, but all in all it was a good read. I requested The True Queen from Netgalley because I quite enjoyed reading the first book. As she’s drawn into their intrigues, she must uncover the secrets of her past, and journey into a world with more magic than she had ever dreamed. If Muna is to save her sister, she must learn to navigate high society, and trick the English magicians into believing she is a magical prodigy. The only hope of saving her is to go to distant Britain, where the Sorceress Royal has established an academy to train women in magic. They have been cursed by an unknown enchanter, and slowly Sakti starts to fade away. When sisters Muna and Sakti wake up on the peaceful beach of the island of Janda Baik, they can’t remember anything, except that they are bound as only sisters can be. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability. In the follow-up to the “delightful” Regency fantasy novel (NPR.org) Sorcerer to the Crown, a young woman with no memories of her past finds herself embroiled in dangerous politics in England and the land of the fae. A magical adventure set in Regency London, fairyland and an enchanted island: war looms in the lands of fairy as two sisters are separated, plots thicken and there are rumours of a new contender for the throne of fairy. But if the true queen does finally return, trouble may find her first. Mina must somehow find Satki, break their curse and stay out of trouble. For the missing trinket contained the magic of her usurped sister, Fairyland's rightful heir. Their Queen is at her most dangerous, fearing for her throne.

Satki plots to banish it in London, as Britain's Sorceress Royal dares to train female magicians. And Muna and her sister Satki wake on its shores under a curse - which has stolen away their memories. The island of Janda Baik, in the Malay archipelago, has long been home to witches.
